Content Management Sites, or CMS, are so flexible, dynamic and scalable that it is impossible to set static prices. If you are interested in a CMS site (and if you want a cutting edge site with maximum flexibility you should really consider one) we will follow the basic workflow described below and give you a firm contract and price based on the site you want created before we begin.

Our preferred method of working with a customer, particularly regarding CMS sites, is to meet with the customer, find out exactly what they have in mind, work up a mock-up and design ideas, present that to the customer, set a price for the project, sign a contract with the client and move ahead with the design.

• Initial consultation...discuss client's needs and expectations. Bring them down to earth and discuss our pricing and time frame.
• Second consultation (can often be combined with the first)...look at proposed content. Articles, photos, sale items, and specifics of what the client needs on the website. At this point we will give the potential client a ballpark figure for what the total cost of the project will be.
• Next meeting. We will present the potential client with a firm proposal, including a very basic mock-up of the site we have in mind. If our proposal is accepted we will have a firm price and timeline to give you at that point.
• If the client wants to make major changes to our proposal that is perfectly fine but will usually entail another meeting before we can give a firm price.
• Assuming we've come to agreements, we will then write up a contract and present it (usually the next day) to the client to sign.

The contract will detail exactly what we are going to do for the client, what the website will consist of, what features it will include, how it will be hosted and how much it will all cost as well as how it will be paid. We normally ask for 50% down and the rest upon delivery of the completed web site. The contract will also detail a firm timeline that we will adhere to in delivering the completed website and will include at least one interim presentation of the site to get any final input from the client.

If the client complies with the contract as regards getting us the content stipulated in the contract and needed to complete all the pages, we will deliver the website by the date in the contract or we will begin discounting the final cost on a set rate for every day it is delivered after the contract date. If completion is delayed by the client for any extended period the full price of the contract will become due 30 days after the original projected completion date.

Final payment will normally be due when the website is delivered, even if it is completed and the client agrees to take delivery early. Once the site has been delivered and the contract has been paid in full, the site, with the exception of any copyrighted third party software or scripts used in the various implementations on the site, will become the sole property of the client and we will relinquish all claims to the design, to any logo or other images we have contributed to the site and to any articles we may have written in the course of building the site.

If the client has chosen managed hosting, the first year of managed hosting will also commence on the date the final website is delivered and the final contract payment is made.

If the client has chosen self hosting, the website will be delivered on CD or DVD and installed on the client's chosen host's server as soon as the final payment is made. During development the site will be on our server and won't be moved to the outside host until the contract has been fulfilled.
